His career started in the investment management world where Neil played a significant role in building an asset management business called Melville Douglas which he was MD of for a number of years. This business was acquired by Standard Bank in 2001. As a Director Neil was given a number of different leadership positions within Standard Bank, being appointed as Director and Head of Private Banking and Wealth in 2006. Neil was appointed as CEO of Goscor in 2010 when Imperial acquired a controlling interest in the Group. Neil is a passionate cyclist, golfer and family man.

Cecil Oates

Managing Director, Goscor Lift Trucks

Boasting vast experience in leadership roles both in South Africa and abroad, Cecil is well-placed to steer the Goscor Lift Trucks business to new heights. A mechanical engineering technologist by profession, Cecil also holds an MBA from Bond University.

He joined GLTC from Babcock in early 2020, where he held several leadership positions across several business disciplines, including engineering, business development and transport – for 14 years of his career. Prior to that, Cecil worked for APV, where he rose through the ranks to become MD of the company’s South African business, before he joined APV’s global team in Germany.

In some of these roles, Cecil displayed undisputed competence in turning unprofitable businesses into cash cows, and setting them on a sustainable growth path – an attribute that made him the perfect fit for the GLTC managing directorship.

Away from work, Cecil enjoys spending time with his family and friends. His great passion for motorsport is exhibited by his support for his sons’ involvement in the one-make VW Polo GTi Cup Championship. Both sons race for the Total Excellium team – always keeping him at full throttle.

Francois Otto

Group Financial Director, Goscor Group

Francois holds a B Compt degree from Unisa and completed his articles at a medium-sized Audit Firm in Cape Town.

He joined an Industrial Equipment group in December 1999 as Financial Manager in Cape Town and relocated to Johannesburg during 2002 for the same group where he fulfilled Financial Manager roles locally and in the UK for a total of 10 years.

Francois joined the Goscor Group in January 2010 as the Group Financial Manager.
